    Our Vision is to empower all vulnerable children to reach their full potential.

  • What do we do?

    We offer programs that nurture, kinship care, support and strengthen the children, families and caregivers we serve as they move forward in their journey involving fostering and adoption. It is our goal for every South Carolina child to have a safe, loving christian home.

  • How do we accomplish our mission?

    Through focusing on 6 key areas:

    • Recruiting Christian foster and adoptive families for children in need.
    • Increasing community awareness regarding the significance of issues related to child welfare in our state.
    • Supporting children who age out of the foster care system through mentoring and providing resources.
    • Encouraging, supporting and providing resources to foster and adoptive families.
    • Building on the well established relationship with South Carolina's Department of Social Services (DSS) to position A Home for Me to effectively serve as a liaison between the agency and upstate churches who desire to initiate foster/adoption care programs.
    • Guiding churches who wish to establish foster/adoption care ministries by providing a model and resources to do so; actively recruiting and encouraging these congregations.
  • Is A Home for Me a part of the Department of Social Services (DSS)?

    No. A Home for Me is not part of DSS but many of the children we serve are in the foster care system. We value our close relationship with DSS and strive to strengthen collaborations between the agency and local churches for the benefit of SC children and families.

  • Is A Home for Me funded by the state of South Carolina?

    No, A Home For Me is not funded by the state. AHFM is a not-for-profit business, meaning our funding comes from generous donations. 


  • Is A Home for Me affiliated with a particular church denomination?

    A Home for Me works with a variety of christian churches who are striving to do their part to fulfill a Biblical directive to"...take up the cause of the fatherless..." Isaiah 1:17.

  • Is A Home for Me an agency or ministry?

    AHFM is a bridge ministry.  We connect agencies and churches together.

    Although we are not an agency, we have an experienced and passionate team that is committed to educating, equipping, and empowering families in the area of orphan care and adoption. Most of us on the "A Home for Me" team have personal experiences with foster care and adoption, both locally and internationally.


    We are happy to guide you to an area of ministry/service where your time and talents can be best utilized for His Kingdom's work. You don’t have to adopt a child or go on a mission trip to help. There are plenty of opportunities for everyone to serve in some way.

  • How can I become a volunteer?

    Potential individual and group volunteers are encouraged to contact our staff at (864) 254-8115. We will set up a time to talk to you about how you or your group can get involved. We are always in need of compassionate and committed volunteers.

  • Do you offer licensing for foster families or adoption services?

    While A Home for Me is not a licensing agency we do provide an ongoing schedule of valuable training for families interested in fostering and adopting and make referrals to those organizations who do provide licensing programs. We are committed to educating, equipping, and empowering families in the area of foster care and adoption and assisting christian families as they seek to learn about various adoption options.

  • How did A Home for Me begin?

    A Home for Me was founded by a church in Simpsonville, SC in 2008. The organization attained its nonprofit status in 2015, as it expanded its efforts to positively impact more children and families throughout South Carolina.

  • How can I donate to A Home for Me?

    We welcome all gifts and each is vital to our important work! Checks may be made payable to A Home for Me and mailed to:

    Your contribution is 100% tax-deductible and you will receive a tax receipt for all donations. You may want to make a donation in honor or memory of someone, which we will be happy to acknowledge. In addition, we would be happy to help your club or organization develop and operate a fundraising activity for our organization
